Weekend Blurb #3

Posted in Technology, Weekend Blurb on August 23, 2009 by Matthew

This week has been awfully quick. The days went in a blink of an eyes. Nevertheless, they were great days. I finally got my computer parts on Thursday. It’s built and running. There are a few things that I’ll have to live/cope with but I think they will work for now. I can’t complain too much with the things I have going for me.

I got all my computer parts on Thursday and I built it that very night. Outcome, I was very happy with it. I bought all the parts from Newegg.

It took me a while to build the computer because it was my first time putting one together from unopened box parts. Several hours later, it came out awesome and after firing it up, it worked. Lighted up blue in the back, sides and front. Unfortunately, I don’t have any picture of it turned on. I do have how it looks on the inside though.

Friday, Chelsea came over. We spent the weekend together. It was very good.

This weekend was overall a good week. I got very tired towards the end of the weekend though (today). Chelsea played Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise. It was good to see she enjoyed the game.

One fun thing that we did this weekend: we went to an art place. We painted on  pottery. It was fun. I got a bowl and Chelsea got a tea set. It should be ready by Wednesday or Thursday. When I get a change to get it online, I shall share. Until then, this weekend has been a fun-filled weekend, though tiring.

9 Years Later and It is Coming

Posted in Personal, Technology on August 15, 2009 by Matthew

I’ve had my desktop for a long time, around 9 Years. I still use it to play games like World of Warcraft. It was worth the money spent on it, but it was my own money (I’m not complaining though). It was a gift from my mom and I was only in 9th grade then. I wasn’t working, so I couldn’t afford one.

Fast forward to the present. I am currently waiting for the computer parts that I recently bought. It will be my first-actual-real PC (personal computer) because I used my hard-earned money, and I will be putting it together from the physical parts to installing the OS (operating system) into it. It’s going to be a gaming computer mainly, but I will be getting more hard drive for it for separate storage such as music and anime. This is my first time putting a computer together from parts, so I will more than likely share this experience with everyone ^_^

My old computer lasted 9 years. It’s a Dell and it actually still works very well. I want to upgrade it because it’s not good enough to play the few games that are coming out and it has served its time. I hope my next desktop will serve me just as long or longer. I’ve only had 2 desktop in my life and both of them turns out to work for a very long time. I would love for this desktop to last more than 10 years, but if it lasts between 7 – 10 years, I’ll be just as happy.

I’ll likely get the parts next week. The wait continues…

Weekend Blurb #2

Posted in Technology, Weekend Blurb on August 9, 2009 by Matthew

This weekend was probably one of my least productive and blah weekends since I moved back to Tampa. I was originally planned for a day off to Orlando, but that didn’t go through. The reason is simple, I slept longer than I should.

I had my haircut Saturday morning, walked around the mall with my sister, and had lunch after coming home. I was tired and took a nap. I discussed with my sister about going to Orlando for the day or not and I just told her to wake me up in 30 minutes. 3 hours later, I woke up to… well, to music. My sister was on her computer and playing her game and to my amazement, I woke up before the 30 minutes I told her to wake me up. After learning it has been 3 hours instead of 30 minutes, I  decided that a drive to Orlando at that time was not only a waste of gas, but it was also a waste of my time and money. I would have been in Orlando shorter than the time I would drive to Orlando and back. Needless to say, I ended up staying home and played games instead.

Sunday came around and plans were made. I went over to a friend’s house to help out with her homework and we went to lunch at Moe’s. All these while my sister went with a friend of ours to watch G.I. Joe. My friends that I helped out has an Australian Shepherd Mud, a Shiba Inu, a kitty cat, and a flying squirrel (or of the same species). The first day I was there, the Shiba Inu didn’t like me, but today was different. I enjoyed his company. He laid on my lap as I sat crossed-legged on a seat. He’s a cute dog and I wouldn’t mind having a dog like that ^_^ The Australian Shepherd has always loved attention, so that was no different. I love both the dogs very much.

I also bought Mass Effect, Viva Piñata, and Dead or Alive (DoA) 4. I see nothing wrong in waiting for games to be really cheap and buy used games. I always save at least $20 – $30 every time I do that.

The last thing I did today that took the day out was looking for computer parts. It is not easy building my own computer. I looked online for parts and each parts are only compatible with certain kind of other parts.

It really is difficult now since there are so many different technologies out there. Trying to save money while getting the best price, especially on computer parts is not as easy anymore. There are so many different kinds of graphic cards, central processing units (CPU),  motherboards (mobo), tower cases, etc. I project that looking for those items that fit what I want within the budget I’m willing to spend is going to take all week long. Can’t say I’m happy with the time it’ll take, but it will be time worth spending, because it will be my very first desktop that I will invest the time to look for, the money to buy the parts, and the time to build it. It will be my very first desktop that I actually own through looking for the parts, paying for it, and building it. Just an extra note, the desktop’s main purpose is for my games, songs, and videos. Next weekend blurb will be nothing about the computer, I can almost guarantee =D

Web Designer: I Love My Job

Posted in Dreams, Life, Technology, Work on June 18, 2009 by Matthew

I love my job. It’s only been a week, so it could be the “new job” feeling. I enjoy what I do, the same as I have in my other job, but the difference is that I could see this as my career, doing this for the rest of my life. Not necessarily at this one place, though at this moment, I could see myself being here for quite some time, but as a web designer.

Well, just posting good news. Oh, and I have Twitter now. So, welcome to follow me at twitter.com/matsuke. If I know you, more than likely I’ll follow you too. If not, that’s fine. I’m not posting anything crazy up. So far, it’s been a lot more about web stuff than anything.

Some times, I feel people actually don’t know how to responsible of other people’s items. I say this because I’ve had many bad experiences and with close friends of mine. I’m at that crossroad again where I have to decide to be a nice person or to say no, I’m not lending the person something I like a lot, especially something that I would get really mad over if it wasn’t back to me the same condition when it left my hands. Dilemma dilemma. Oh well, I’ll be nice now and if it doesn’t work again, I guess I could always just get my money back some how.

Countdown until a New Career

Posted in College, Dreams, Life, Technology on June 5, 2009 by Matthew

There is nothing more exciting for a college graduate than to get a job soon after graduating. That is me, and I’m counting down to the days I enter into what I would wish and love to be my career. I will be entering as a Jr. Web Designer. In current economy times, many people struggle and talk about economy negatively while loosing their jobs. I am very fortunate to gain a job, and I hope that this is not only a job, but a career. Being a Web Designer is what I want as a career. I want to go out there and make beautiful and pretty web sites, but also keeping everything on the web sites meaningful.

One more week left. In a week, I will say farewell to my fellow co-workers that I’m currently working with and saying hello to new co-workers. New company, new policy, new work environment, new city… new for a work place. I’m actually going back to the city I left to go to college, pretty ironic and funny.

This new job is not only a job. I see this as a career. The reason is because it’s what I want to do and what I like to do. Career  and jobs are different, at least the way I see it. So, what is important to you at a work place? To many, what once to be a career became their job and the repetitive work becomes mundane. I do not wisht to become like that. I hope that this new job that I have, I will always see it as my career every day I go to work. It’s not only work, it’s also a place to grow as an individual, to learn new things, and also to contribute to society (through the company that pays me of course). I am going to be the best Jr. Web Designer that I can ever be, so good that I would be seeing the drop in Jr. and becoming a reliable Web Designer. I want to be challenging what the world has to offer and sit up there as designers of the world. Yes, this is a challenge to myself and to those who are well known. I am not sitting idly letting this opportunity pass by. I will use this to make my family proud of me.

I am going to miss my co-workers. I hope there will be opportunities for me to visit them. I have ’till Thursday to cherish my time there. I will make the most out of it ^_^
