Black Friday Shopping

Posted in Soccer, Sports on November 30, 2008 by Matthew

Yup, only do I write about my black friday shopping two days later. Not to worry though, I didn’t spend much at all. In fact, I spent a little under $55 on 3 items for myself. A pair of brand new cleats. My old one, a cleat on my left cleat has fallen off. Why on earth are the shoes called cleats and the stubs on the bottom called cleats anyway? it’s so difficult to explain to people one of my cleat from my cleats fall off, some times people don’t get it at all.

So, I’m going to say what I bought again, because I started going into a tangent. A new pair of cleats, a new pair of shin guards, and a soccer ball. I had one, but it was one size smaller than the official size. Heh, I was thinking I might be spending about $70 bucks but getting all those for less than $55 is good. Only the ball was on sale, so I really didn’t have a “black friday shopping” like most people waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning.

Well, final is in two weeks, and my to-do things are piling up. You probably won’t hear from me for the next two weeks, and then I’ll be writing again… hopefully.

Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving and if you do have finals coming up, best wishes to you all.

Final Game

Posted in Soccer, Sports on February 15, 2008 by Matthew

Today I have to say has been a sad day. Well, just the evening during the soccer game. We lost; I think the score was 5 – 2. Our team wasn’t playing right. I don’t know, but today’s game somehow doesn’t seem to be our best game. If I could describe it, it could be one of the bottom 3 worst games we’ve played. Could it be the time? Too early? Since we usually play night time, 5 might have been too early? Or were we not ready at all? I don’t know, but I know that it’s over and I’ll have to wait until next year to play. In the meantime, I am considering exercising and working as the extra activities coming up. I just got emailed for a time to do an interview. I pray that it goes well and that if possible, I’m the only candidate up for grabs and that I’m the person they’re looking for.

On a happier note, I finally built my shelf and it’s up with some of my stuff. I’m going to be putting more things up, but at the moment, it’s there and I can smile with pride I built it… ok, with instructions. I’ll update with pictures down the road when I actually upload my images into my computer. Until then, Happy Birthday to me!!! Well, in a couple of days.

I wonder if my entries and the way I write reflects my age well. I would like to take a poll, but of course most of my readers (that I know of) already know me personally, so that would be pretty boring. If you don’t know me or my birth year, you’re welcome to take a stab at how old I’ll be in 2 days. ^_^ Cheerios!

The Game Continues

I apologize for the late update. We won the game. Our next game is this Friday at 5PM. Supposedly the team that we are going to play beat the last team we beat by a large margin. We were already struggling at our previous game with the other team that we’re going to go out there just to play our best and have fun I suppose.

We were losing first half 3 – 1. Came back at second half 3 – 3. Won in OT with an amazing kick.

Looking forward to Friday’s game, and I’ll probably come back with some bad news.

Soccer Tournament Begins

Tonight’s the first game of our tournament. If we loose this game, we’re out. I will update with the results.

Meanwhile, enjoy these clips that my sister so lovingly shared with me.

First Win

I currently play intramural soccer with a few friends and their friends. I’m not too sure about our team name. We aren’t the worst of teams, but we haven’t had great luck. I believe we lost our first 4 games and it didn’t look like there were any other teams worse than us.

Today, our luck changed. I don’t know how or why, but we were making great shots, and this time, the great shots hit. Intramural has different rules. No slide tackles, no offsides, 7 to a team (including goalkeeper), and 20 minutes to a half.

First half, we were up by 3-0. We won the game 6-1. I have to say that their one goal is more beautiful than ours. It’s sad to accept this fact, but they scored as soon as the kickoff started. They did a starting pass and kick a shot into the goal. Our goalie wasn’t exactly paying attention, because we just had a goalie change right before. So, they have their memorable goal. I wish we had one of those.

That’s it for now. I did not update that I sprained my right ankle really bad at last week’s game. Didn’t quite heal up, but wasn’t swollen as well. I played despite the pain (adrenaline kicked in soon anyway). It was fun, and I’m glad I played. At this moment, I pay the price for playing hard. My right ankle hurts again, more than before the game, but not as bad as when I first sprained it.

I hope for a game just as good or better next week.
