Hot hot HOT!!!

Posted in Personal on July 18, 2008 by Matthew

Ever since we my house mate changed the ac filter, the apartment has been hot. I cannot stand a moment without a fan blowing my half naked body (yes, a little too much information perhaps?) The ac is all screwy and it’s frozen over so many times for th past 2 days. Having to turn the ac off and then on and then off doesn’t even help, it only blows out hot air. The office is closed today for some meeting and no maintenance guy is available to come by, or at least haven’t come by yet. Why would people make ac with freon problem? I guess all electronics do need maintenance to upkeep their best productivity.

This comes to mind to human beings. I believe everyone needs their personal upkeep to work the best. However it’s done, it’s different for everyone. Me for example, I like to have time to myself, just doing absolutely nothing but wasting time. I have to do that after a certain number of days, otherwise I couldn’t function as a great worker. I love helping people too, I think that’s a downfall for most time, because I like to say “yes” a lot and “no” very little. You can tell what kind of person I am from that alone… the kind who gets stepped on a lot. Regardless, I would still help and just wait for something grand in return. It may be in 10 years, maybe 20, but however long it is, the way I am is just the way I am.

Okay, so back to being lazy as being my recharging state. It’s not total laziness, it’s just the fact that I have to sit for some time and play games. My games are places I can go and forget about things I’ve come across daily. Writing in my blog does the same at some point. I think I would categorize myself to have an implosion reaction. I keep everything that bothers me inside and one day I would just explode and everyone would seriously just look at me as though my circuits just blew and it’ll restore itself after a moment of silence.

My quest to wait for the maintenance guy continues and I shall do some playing while at it. I played about 5 hours of Mass Effect last night, and I find myself liking the 1st and 3rd person shooter action a lot more than I let myself on to. It maybe the fact that I’m growing and changing too, so I would enjoy more games than before.

Thanks for reading!

Understanding People

Posted in Communication, Culture, Technology on July 14, 2008 by Matthew

As individuals, many of us tend to be happy where we are, what we think, what we know, or even what we do. Being open-minded doesn’t mean we don’t have safety zones we would rather stay in, it just means understanding or trying out the new things. But today, I’ve learned several things as far as understanding generations goes.

My generation and younger ones either:
1) Doesn’t care or
2) Like it

I’m talking about showing everything online. There’s a comfort zone about generations that grew up with Internet that make them believe the internet is either a safe haven or just are really stupid about it. Myspace and Facebook are perhaps the easiest example that many people would understand.

Uploading contents online sure is easy and easy to share with friends too, but what people do not understand is that what you put online can still be seen by certain people or some, even if you put your entire site as private. Here’s a way, your friends might not put theirs as private, and the picture of you two partying together and you totally wasted wasn’t hidden from everyone. What you put online that you know could get you fired should be something you keep private and not ever putting online. Of course if your work is about partying, then that’s different. Sharing everything isn’t a good thing.

If you’re younger, and rely on your parents, and you have images that you know your parents do not approve of, then they shouldn’t be uploaded for anyone (including your friends) to be seen too, cause friends can become enemies and they can share a certain picture with your parents. Uh-oh, the backstabbing process of heartache and friendships. Anyway, here’s the core of what’s suppose to be entered…

Younger generations think they’re open-minded because they don’t mind these things while they think the older generations are closed-minded because they see these as bad, but in fact that’s not how open-mindedness should be defined or should be used. This is the case of the people’s common sense, lack of knowledge, and just plain stupid. Anyway, there are older generations who welcome the Net Generations, but Net Generations have to be taught properness, or etiquettes.

The internet is a big world, bigger than the Earth itself, but here’s the problem, everyone could have the equal amount of information to share or to take from the internet. It’s a big responsibility. To quote a famous saying, “With great power comes great responsibility.” The internet is a powerful tool, but the kind of people who are using it, well, it’s sad to say there’s no way world peace could happen this way.

Forgotten Words

Nothing great today. I thought of writing some thing long or even a poem, then I got distracted and did a bunch of things for an hour and I’ve lost my train of thought. Why is it that I forget things easily? Especially if I try really hard to keep it in my head. I’ve got a syndrome that just forgets things easily. My mom and sister knows it very well, and I’m sure Cheeky knows it too. But in things that are not necessary or important, I seem to remember them easily, such as tv shows or animes or games. I would venture to guess it’s a selective memory that I’ve built up, but that’s still just a theory.

I often wonder how many people are like me, bad at multitasking and also at the same time when I’m concentrating on the television, I just loose every senses I have to the world around me. If a bomb were to go off in the next building or a lightning strike a tree couple blocks away with a loud thunder, I probably wouldn’t know what’s going on unless I’m partially paying attention to the tv, which it has to be a show I don’t really watch for that to happen. Which I barely do.

When every thing’s on the computer, I can do a lot of things at once, but I find it still only doing one thing, being on the computer. If I were to be on the computer, listening to someone else talking to me, that’s a little more difficult and that’s two tasks at one time that I couldn’t even accomplish.

Well, I’m still very happy for my good health and good nature. I wonder what it would be like if I was an angry person. I honestly wonder…
